Vanessa Moultrie
A 24-year-old illustrator for a magazine company and main character. She is a black conservative Republican who comes from a family of moderate-liberal Democrats. Loves politics and is rarely not talking about it much to her boyfriend’s chagrin.
Mike Harris-Rose
Vanessa’s 25-year-old boyfriend and a recovering Democrat. Has no interest in politics, yet sometimes finds himself in such conversations and situations. Lives with his roommate Plus exactly one floor below Vanessa. He is older brother to Dewey Harris-Rose.
Dewey Harris-Rose
Mike’s 5-year-old brother. Known to take things literally as many kids do and sometimes gets in trouble because of it. Wants to be President when he grows up.
“Plus” Sykes
Mike’s 26-year-old roommate whose love for music rivals that of most Socialists. By night, Plus is a club DJ. By day, he is a food burning sensation. Doesn’t have much interest in politics, but will entertain if the conversation is right.
Barry
Vanessa’s coworker. He is always asking questions to further his understanding of Vanessa’s life as a black Republican.

Mike’s coworker and gangsta rap lover. Sees himself as a fighter for “the cause”.
